Video Formats For Video Editing

The following is a list of the video formats for original source footage that we will edit:

DV - NTSC

Standard 32KHz - For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment. Standard NTSC video (4:3 interlaced), timebase 29.97 fps, frame size 720h x 480v (0.900), with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC (0.9), 32kHz (12 bit) audio, Drop-Frame Timecode numbering.

Standard 48KHz - For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment. Standard NTSC video (4:3 interlaced), timebase 29.97 fps, frame size 720h x 480v (0.900), with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC (0.9) 48kHz (16 bit) audio, drop-Frame Timecode numbering.

Widescreen 32KHz - For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment. Widescreen NTSC video (16:9 interlaced), timebase 29.97 fps, frame size 720h x 480v (1.200), with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2). 32kHz (12 bit) audio, Drop-Frame Timecode numbering.

Widescreen 48KHz - For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment. Widescreen NTSC video (16:9 interlaced), timebase 29.97 fps, frame size 720h x 480v (1.200), with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2). 48kHz (16 bit) audio, Drop-Frame Timecode numbering.

DV - 24P

Standard 32KHz - For editing 23.976 fps footage shot in 24P or 24PA (24P Advanced) modes.
Standard NTSC frame size 720h x 480v (0.900) with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC (0.9) 
32kHz (12 bit) audio, 2:3:3:2 pull-up for playback to a DV device.

Standard 48KHz - For editing 23.976 fps footage shot in 24P or 24PA (24P Advanced) modes.
Standard NTSC frame size 720h x 480v (0.900) with frame aspect ratio (4:3) with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC (0.9), 48kHz (16 bit) audio, 2:3:3:2 pull-up for playback to a DV device.

Widescreen 32KHz - For editing 23.976 fps footage shot in 24P or 24PA (24P Advanced) modes.
Widescreen NTSC frame aspect ratio (16:9), frame size 720h x 480v (1.200), with pixel aspect ratio D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2), 32kHz (12 bit) audio, 2:3:3:2 pull-up for playback to a DV device.

DVCPROHD - 1080i

DVCPROHD 1080i 24p - For editing MXF material recorded in 1080i/24p or 1080i/24pa mode with a 60Hz Panasonic P2 camcorder. Progressive rendering. Timebase: 23.976 fps, frame size: 1280h 1080v (1.500), frame rate: 23.976 frames/second, Pixel Aspect Ratio: DVCPRO HD (1.5)

DVCPROHD 1080i 50i - For editing 1080i MXF material recorded with a 50Hz Panasonic P2 camcorder. Interlaced rendering. Timebase: 25.00 fps, frame size: 1440h 1080v (1.333), frame rate: 25.00 frames/second, Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)

DVCPROHD 1080i 60i - For editing 1080i MXF material recorded with a 60Hz Panasonic P2 camcorder. Interlaced rendering. Timebase: 29.97 fps, frame size: 1280h 1080v (1.500), frame rate: 29.97 frames/second, pixel Aspect Ratio: DVCPRO HD (1.5)

DVCPROHD - 720p

DVCPROHD 720p 24p - For editing MXF material recorded in 720p/24p or 720p/24pn modes with a 60Hz Panasonic P2 camcorder. Material recorded using Variable Frame Rates will be treated as 23.976fps. Progressive rendering.

iPod, QVGA, Sub-QCIF - 640x480 VGA editing format for authoring 4:3 content intended for playback on mobile devices supporting QVGA or Sub-QCIF video. Timebase: 15.00 fps, frame size: 640h 480v (1.000), Frame rate: 15.00 frames/second, Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
